In honor of Learn About Composting Day, the Edwards Aquifer Authority Education Outreach Center is sharing tips to help you start composting at home and here’s why it matters.
Endangered Species Day, observed annually on the third Friday in May, is a national call to reflect on the plants and animals at risk of disappearing forever. It encourages awareness, and education to protect endangered and threatened species—not only for their uniqueness, but for the essential roles they play in maintaining healthy, functioning ecosystems. In Central Texas, some of the world’s rarest endangered species live hidden beneath our feet, deep within the Edwards Aquifer and its spring systems.
Let’s throw it back to April 22, 1970… when 20 million Americans came together to demand cleaner air, water, and a healthier planet. That was the very first Earth Day—and it sparked a global movement that’s still going strong over 50 years later!
