Vocabulary
Sinkhole
A natural depression or hole formed by the sudden collapse of the land surface, often as a result of dissolution of underlying limestone by flowing groundwater.
Porous Rock
A type of rock with holes or openings that can hold water.
Limestone
A hard sedimentary rock. The Edwards Aquifer is made up of limestone.
Non-Point Source Pollution
Pollution that is caused by widely dispersed sources, such as runoff from urban and rural areas.
Well
A human-made hole in the ground, dug to pump out water.
